HUMAN CRYOPRESERVED LIVER CELLS

  • Hepatocytes: These cells are the primary site of metabolic drug transformation with most drug eliminations by CYP dependent oxidation (Phase I metabolism), as many drug-drug interactions occur by inhibition or induction of CYP enzymes. Human hepatocytes provide the most physiologically relevant model to measure qualitative and quantitative aspects as they contain a full compliment of enzymes. A major advance in drug testing is the availability of human livers and cells for research.

  • Total Liver Cells (TLC): For investigators that desire all hepatic cells in their studies, TLC includes hepatic non-parenchymal, and progenitor cells. This natural organ co-culture platform helps cell feedback signals to better mimic naturally occurring in vivo organ responses.

  • Non-Parenchymal Cells: Feedback loops with diversity and complexity of parenchymal and non-parenchymal cell interactions. Involves signal cascades for liver regeneration as induced TNF activation leads to production of kupffer cells or other non-parenchymal cells of IL-6. Non-parenchymal cell types are capable of producing TGF-β with different proliferation, differentiation, and other expression profiles.

  • Progenitor Hepatic Cells: Highly active cells with culture longevity. Compelling source as young functional units for pharmaceutical drug developments. Attach well to many surfaces. Provides opportunities for sequential environmental insults. Have mature and immature functional activities and gene expressions. Profiles established to include AFP, Albumin, P450-A7, EpCAM, E-Cadherin, and Urea production.

RODENT & ANIMAL CRYOPRESERVED LIVER CELLS

  • Cell cryopreservation techniques are formulated to meet the "off-the-shelf" cell demand. Industry, research, and academic end-users need the capability to perform reproducible studies. This requirement off-sets the use of freshly isolated cells that do not provide for replicate culture opportunities. Cryopreserved cells are an ideal cell product choice.

HUMAN

  • Safety: Treat as potentially infectious. These products are for research use only. They are not approved for human or veterinary use, or for in vitro diagnostic procedures.
  • Serology histories come with each product lot. Original tissues have been tested negative for (A) HIV-1, HIV-2, HbsAG, HbcAB, HCV, and RPR, or (B) HIV, HBV, HCV; noted on the Certificate of Analysis (CofA). Some lots are positive for CMV and EBV.
  • De-identified background histories are also available, to include: age, gender, race, BMI, diabetic, hypertensive, steatotic levels, and others.
  • Each tissue is uniquely different and provides opportunities to harness naturally occurring in vivo structures to support in vitro studies.
  • Cells are obtained via the gift of tissue and organ donation for research advancements in medical science.
